Spring Reset
There’s something about this time of year that just feels like a little nudge from life saying, “Alright, let’s try that again, but with better energy this time.” The days are getting longer, it’s no longer pitch black at 4pm, and suddenly everything feels a bit more manageable.
After months of grey skies, heavy mornings, and wondering why you’re tired even after doing absolutely nothing, spring shows up right on time to lift the mood. That sluggish, slightly unmotivated feeling? It starts to loosen its grip. Your energy picks up, your mind feels clearer, and things that once felt like effort start to feel possible again. It’s not dramatic, it’s subtle, but it’s powerful.
And with that shift comes the perfect excuse for a reset. Not the intense, “change your whole life overnight” kind, but the kind that starts with opening a window, letting some fresh air in, and thinking, “Right, what do I actually need right now?” Spring cleaning isn’t just about your wardrobe or that one drawer everyone avoids it’s about clearing out the mental clutter too. The overthinking, the self doubt, the habits that don’t really add anything good to your day. You don’t need to carry all of that into a new season.
There’s something oddly satisfying about getting your space together and your mind following suit. It’s like your environment gently reminds you that you’re allowed to feel organised, calm, and in control again. Not to mention being able to hang the washing outside again, winning!!
At the same time, this is your sign to look after yourself but in a way that actually feels realistic. Go outside more, even if it’s just for a short walk. Let the sun hit your face for a few minutes longer than usual. Move your body, not because you “have to,” but because it feels good. And if you need rest, take it just maybe not all day wrapped in a blanket this time.
It also helps to keep a few simple reminders in your back pocket for when your mind tries to drift back into old habits. Things like: I can start again without making it a big deal. I’m allowed to take things one step at a time. I don’t need to have everything figured out to move forward. And most importantly, I am capable of doing more than I give myself credit for. Sometimes a small shift in what you tell yourself can change how you show up completely.
And let’s talk about the light because it really does make a difference. Longer days mean more time to do things, more motivation to leave the house, and less convincing yourself that staying in is the only option. It lifts your mood without you even trying. You think clearer, you feel lighter, and suddenly the idea of doing something productive or even just enjoyable doesn’t feel like a chore. Hibernation season is well and truly over.
This is where that “go get it” energy quietly starts to creep in. Not in an overwhelming way, but in a “you know what, let me just start” kind of way. Make the plan, try the thing, book the trip. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to happen. Spring has a way of reminding you that movement any movement is better than standing still.
So take this season for what it is: a fresh start without the pressure. A chance to reset your space, your mindset, and your energy. Open the windows, get some air in, and let yourself feel a bit lighter. You don’t need a full transformation you just need a small shift in the right direction.
Because honestly, life already feels a little brighter. You may as well meet it there.
